The 45 mi (72.42 km) long lake’s capacity is 648000 ac/2622 km² on a very low desert elevation of 482 ft (146.91 m). The concrete dam that makes a glorious arch was built between 1934 and 1938 by the United States Bureau of Reclamation.
There are two aqueducts that need to be filled with water and that is exactly the lake’s primary purpose. Except from that purpose the lake is also available for fun and especially cliff diving.
Cliff Diving is a really dangerous sport from which some people lost their lives and others suffered from injuries that followed them for the rest of their lives. You should never jump on forbidden locations and always take precautions before any jump.
At Lake the most popular place for cliff jumping is ‘The Suicide’ at the Crystal Cliffs. The cliff’s height ranges from 15 to 150 ft (4.57-45.72 m). In order to access the area, you will need an off – road vehicle or a boat. The water is deep enough for you to dive, but you should still be extremely careful.
