Wilkin/Wai-Rata Canyon, Wanaka
Wanaka is a small town in Central Otago in the South Island of New Zealand, situated on the south side of Lake Wanaka.
The Tara river is located between Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina. It emerges from the confluence of the Opasnica and Verusa Rivers in the Komovi mountain, part of Montenegro’s Dinaric Alps. Its length is totally 144 km/90 mi, of which 104 km/65 mi are in Montenegro, while the final 40 km/25 mi are in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Tara River also forms the border between the two countries in variety of places.
It’s worth noting that it cuts Tara River Gorge, the longest canyon in Montenegro and Europe and second longest in the world after Grand Canyon, at 82 km/50 mi in length and 1300 m/4265 ft at its deepest. The canyon is protected as an UNESCO World Heritage Site and is a part of Durmitor National Park.
