Shipstern Bluff is usually uncrowded and it is suitable for very experienced surfers only. Offshore winds blow from the north and the ideal swell direction is from the south, southwest. The best tide movement is rising and falling tide and the ideal tide position is low tide only. In summer, the wind blows offshore at 38%, in autumn the wind blows at 39%, in winter at 40% and in spring at 43%.
The best period for waves is winter when the average maximum sea temperature is 12°C /53.6°F. Here you can explore the waves with swell sizes from 2 m-2.5 m/6 ft-8 ft and holding up to 5 m/16 ft.
