Valdosta is situated in the coastal plain of Georgia, so it has a virtually flat landscape. It lies at 230 mi/370 km in the south of Atlanta and almost in the same distance from the north of Orlando, Florida. Valdosta belongs to Lowndes County and it is the county seat. The city is also known as the Azalea city, due to the plant that grows in profusion there. It goes without saying that Valdosta is known for the big sporting activity in and around the city.
In Folkston near Valdosta lies a pretty amazing off – road park, Dirt Farm MX. Dirt Farm MX is the perfect place for motocross. It is an urban, man-made terrain with 5 mi/8 km of trails in total, including a peewee track, a 1 mi/1.6 km long motocross track, mud bogs, a flat track and a 1000 ft/305 m sand drag strip.
It is open for practice on weekends from 10 am to 5 pm, as there is a motocross school in the facility and on Wednesdays from 1 pm to dark. There is a fee per rider and a camping fee, but there is no entrance or parking fee. Bear in mind that plastic money is no longer acceptable.
The trails lie at an elevation of 50 to 150 ft/15.2 to 46 m and they consist of dust, loose dirt, trees, many small and large jumps and berms. Some single tracks are available and rider traffic is usual, as it is a very popular park. The terrain is most suitable for amateurs, but novices and experts are also welcome to practice and perfect their tricks.
Other amenities you will come across are a loading ramp, spray wash station, a parts and accessories store and restrooms with hot shower. It is suggested to spend the entire day at least, in order to truly enjoy this park.
