El Fraile is the most visited paragliding site in Havana, due to its close proximity to the capital. It is located on the north shore of the island, close to Canasi flying spot. It is considered to be an excellent location for pilots with no previous experience, to practice touch and go and top landing.
The take off altitude is at 41 m/134.5 ft above sea level and the take off point is found at 23°8’47” (23.1466)N; 81°52’9″ (81.8693)W. There is a large area about 200 m/656 ft wide, where you can launch and land safely. The best wind directions are from the north and northeast. In addition, the ideal period to visit El Fraile is during spring and early summer months.
