Swakopmund is situated in Erogo District, at 361 km/224 mi in the west of Windhoek, Namibia's capital. The spot lies in the Namib Desert, western Namibia giving in the costal edge and facing the south Atlantic Ocean. The city is the main summer destination of the country and top spot for skydivers.
The Swakopmund region successfully combines the deep blue of the South Atlantic Ocean with the orange-red of the sand dunes of the Namib Desert. As a summer resort of the country, the area has developed excellent touristic facilities and services. The drop-zone is usually at the airport of Swakopmund which is operated mostly seasonal by the carriers. The landing area is the desert ground of Namib desert.
