Roquetas de Mar is a municipality, located in the west of Almeria province. It is the most popular town of Almeria, with direct coastal access to the Mediterranean Sea.
It is called the sunniest region of all Europe, with more than 3000 hours of sunshine every year, and low rainfall. Roquetas de Mar enjoys a Mediterranean sub-tropical climate, with temperatures from 16 to 30°C/60.80-86°F, and June through September being considered as quite warm months (26 to 30°C/78.80-86°F).
During summer, it is a high season resort, with a lot of water sport activity going on. Its many clean, blue-flag, sandy beaches (more than 10 km/6 mi), and mild wave conditions make it an unique destination for beginners. Wave size is about 1 m/3 ft, swell direction is south west.
