Located in Central Oregon, very close to Bend, Deschutes River Trail is one of the most popular trails in the area.
It is therefore very crowded in summer months. If you want to enjoy your ride in solitude, best time to visit is spring and fall, when there isn’t too much crowd and dust.
It is a 17 mi/27.4 km long trail and mountain bikers often use the Meadow Picnic Area as a starting point, but you can use other points to start your course. There aren’t many technical sections and the small elevation makes it an attractive trail for most of the riders. The most difficult sections of this single-track are some rocky parts, but in general it is a smooth trail and rather wide one.
This place is notorious, not only for the bike trail itself, but for the unique beauty of the landscape, the admiral waterfalls, the lava landforms and the breathtaking mountain view. Located very close to Bend, one can find a variety of accommodation and restaurants, though there are campgrounds at the river for the ones wishing to spend the night close to nature.
