Wenatchee is the largest city of Chelan County, located in North Central Washington and lies on the west side of the Columbia River. The city is also known as the Apple Capital of the world, due to the valley's apple cultivations.

Swakane Canyon is located at 20 mins away from Wenatchee Town. The trail is 6 mi/9.6 km long, out and back, about four hours hike, with minimal elevation gain. When you park your car, the trail road is the one marked as “5215”. As you hike up this desert looking canyon, you will come across Golden Eagles nesting on the high cliffs and mountain sheep with curly horns.

You can also climb up to viewpoints and admire the Columbia River Canyon. The road continues across curvy highlands that you can follow, if you want to hike a longer route. The best time to hike this trail, is from October through December, and enjoy nature’s autumn colours. Swakane Canyon trail is an exciting and interesting hike, certainly worth visiting, suitable for all skill levels.
