Alp 2500 is a complex of ski resorts in La Cerdanya, Catalonia, in the Pyrenees mountains of northeastern Spain. It includes the two towns of La Molina and Masella, whose two respective ski areas united form Alp 2500.
Masella is a ski resort in the Pyrenees mountains, belonging to Alp’s municipality, in La Cerdanya in Girona. It lies on La Tossa d’Alp mountain and together with La Molina, they form the Alp 2500 resort. The temperature varies from 1 to 15°C/33.80 to 59°F throughout the year, with February being the coldest month. In Masella, a lot of races and Cups, like the Audi Ski Cup Race of 2011 or Mestre World Cup of 2007, take place on the spot.
With 457 snow cannons, it’s open for winter sports for about five months per season. The forest extends along at 80% of its pistes and 90% on the face north. It offers the largest vertical drop in the Eastern Pyrenees of 935 m / 3067 ft with 74 km/45 mi of total skiing terrain. Lowest altitude is at 1600 m / 5249 ft at Pla de Masella, with a maximum height of 2535 m / 8316 ft at La Tosa.
There are 9 beginner, 24 intermediate, and 22 advanced pistes available. You can move in the area by using 5 chairlifts, 7 draglifts, 2 rope tows and 4 transporting tapes. There are a lot of clubs, training schools and shops in the area where you can buy, repair or rent your skiing equipment.
