The metropolitan area of Adelaide is famous for the variety and great number of diving sites it has to offer (you can visit here some of the most impressive shipwrecks in the whole world). The waters have the perfect temperature for scuba diving (warm during the summer and crystal clear during the winter), and are generally friendly and uncrowded.
Milkies Reef, named after a local milkman who found the place, is a popular destination for diving, mainly due to the spectacular and varied fish populations the area hosts at relatively shallow depth. Be prepared to see many spider crabs, Blue Devils, cuttlefish, strongies, silver drummers and crayfish. Suitable for divers of all levels (beginners beware of the currents as they can be strong).

North Head is the northern headland of the entrance to Sydney Harbor. All along this section, there are several excellent dive sites.

Point Turton is a delightful town which overlooks the calm waters of Hardwicke Bay. The town is situated only two and a half hours from Adelaide and it offers miles of white sand beaches, reefs for walking and shell collecting opportunities.
