Longmont is located northeast of the county seat of Boulder, about 31 mi/49.9 km north-northwest of the Colorado state capitol in Denver. It is a home rule municipality in Boulder, Weld Counties in the U.S. state of Colorado.

It is an easy going community only 16 mi/25.8 km away from Boulder. Cross country skiing is one of the most popular sports in Boulder. A great trail to cross country ski is Ceran St. Vrain. It is a 7.5 mi/12 km trail in a small network, with an elevation of 8078 to 8939 ft/2462 to 2725 m.

The first 2 mi/3.2 km of the trail are exciting. It is a shaded, smooth, single track with many technical sections, keeping things interesting. Once the trail meets the 4×4 road, it gets really steep and loose, so be careful, if you want to continue that way.

It is surrounded by private property and a lot of the paths drive to dead end. Some the trails are out and back, so remember that whenever you ski down, you must go up again to meet the trailhead. Trail level is regarding physical level, moderate and as for technical level, moderate too.

It is recommended that you purchase a map, because not all of the private property is well marked and you could have troubles with the landowners.
