Mombasa Marine Park & Reserve is located along the east coast of Kenya. The marine park covers an area of 6 mi/10 km (around 2,500 ac/10.12 km²) and the reserve a massive area of 124 mi/200 km square (around 49,400 ac/199.91 km²). Since it is located close to most of all the touristic areas, its beaches are one of the most visited and a great deal of activities take place at the same time.
After a 10 minutes boat ride, you are at the Coral Garden diving spot in the inside reef. The spot offers amazing diving sessions and is perfect for the entry level diver and open water diving lessons. It offers a maximum depth of 19 ft/6 m with an approximate of 39 ft/12 m visibility.
Scuba diving here is an all year round activity, mainly because of the calm protected conditions of the inside lagoon. Water temperatures are at an amazing 25-31°C/77-87.8°F so no need for wet suits!! The fact that it is within shallow waters allows for spectacular underwater life with breathtaking colors of the marine life. Open to all level of divers, night dives can also be arranged.
Marine life expected here includes diverse species of the coral grouper, moray eel, surgeon fish and huge shoals of yellow snapper just to mention a few.
