Newport is a suburb in northern Sydney, at about 31 km/19 mi north of Sydney's CBD (Central Business District). It nestles among the Pacific Ocean and the Pittwater.

Bungan beach is an exposed beach and point break that has dependable surf at all stages of the tide. Surfers can explore the waves with swell sizes from less than 3 ft (1 m) to 8 ft (2.5 m). The best tide movement is falling tide.

Offshore winds blow from the northwest and the ideal swell direction is from the northeast. In summer the wind blows offshore at 14%, in autumn the wind blows at 17%, in winter at 16% and in spring at 16%. The average water temperature is about 21°C/69.8°F.The best time for waves is autumn.

This spot is suitable for more experienced surfers. You are able to enjoy stunning views from the top. Watch out for rips and locals.
