Sunshine Coast is situated between Port Elizabeth and East London in the Eastern Cape province of South Africa. Beset with countless little villages with access to the beach, it's a holiday maker's dream destination. All these little villages offer access to the beach, lagoons and trails to explore. The climate here is sub-tropical with temperature in winters at 21°C/69.80°F and summers at 30°C/86°F.
Glorious weather and warm waters make it just perfect for snorkeling adventure. East London offers three amazing snorkeling sites, namely the Glen Eden Point, Gonubie Point and the Orient Side.
The Glen Eden offers shallow waters approximately at 1.5 m/4 ft in depth and suitable for children as well, but due to the surrounding bay rocks, there is plenty of small and big fish. Here snorkeling can be conducted on both low and high tide, however it has to be an incoming tide because an outgoing one has strong backwash.
In the Gonubie Point and the Orient side with depths standing at 6 m/19 ft and suitable for children, snorkeling is normally done after the westerly winds and in calm conditions and offers smaller fish and the larger Knife Jaw and Silver Steenbras.
