Mount Sabre (2.162 m/7093 ft high) is part of the spectacular Darren Mountains, situated in the northern part of Fiordland.

It is the perfect destination for rock climbing lovers, offering a total number of 37 routes. The rock is granite with many natural lines, climbs and technical difficulties.

There is also the possibility of abseiling down the East Ridge. When you get to the top, the magnificent panoramic view of the surrounding mountains and valleys will definitely reward you! Note: The closest form of “civilization” to Darren mountains is a small town called Te Anau, situated on the border of Fiordland National Park and Te Wahipounamu World Heritage Area. Te Anau is the perfect place to start your journey, since it hosts several hotels and restaurants.
