Diamond Head Trail is located on the Central Cascade Mountain, at the Wenatchee National Forest. It is 5 mi/8 km long (out and back), about five hours ski, with an elevation gain of 1800 ft/548 m. The trail is open for alpine skiing from December through March.
Diamond Head Trail is not recommended for beginners. It has a nice run on the Northern side and clear cut slopes on the Southern side, lots of powder snow and sparkling sunshine. You ski through dark forests and open meadows with untouched snow and as soon as you get on the top of Diamond Head, the view is breathtaking. You will also come across a wide variety of plants and animals to observe. Don’t forget to take with you a map and a compass.
