Kahului is located in Maui Island on Hawaii and is the largest city of the Island. It is considered to be a shopping destination because there are several major stores and malls.
It’s also home to Kahana Pond State Wildlife Sanctuary and the Alexander and Baldwin Sugar Museum, dedicated to Maui’s sugar industry. Kahului hosts its own major airport in the North shore. Waihou Spring Trail is 1 mi/1.6 km long, about one hour hike, and starts from the Waihou Springs Forest Reserve.
The trail follows an impressive experimental pine tree forest plantation and goes down into a huge gorge, that leads to the spring. Hikers can see a series of water diversion tunnels, cut on the side of the rocks. The trail is suitable for all skill levels but you might have to walk through steep and muddy terrain, so good hiking shoes are essential.
