Kailua Kona is located in the North Kona District, Hawaii. It is a lively seaside town with sunny tropical weather all year long and lies at the bottom of the Hualalai Volcano.
The town hosts many interesting historical sites and is famous for its Kona Coffee cultivation and the crystal clear sea. Kona International Airport is located at fifteen minutes in the south of the main town. Along the sea side, there are shops to buy, rent or repair snorkeling gear.
Mauna Kea Beach is considered to be one of the World’s all time Best Beaches according to Travel Channel. Most part of the bay is covered with white sand and shallow calm water with great visibility. On the right side of the beach there are rocks and corals, home to a large variety of tropical fish, eels, butterfly fish, flag tails and green sea turtles.
Mauna Kea Beach is perfect for beginners and children. And for those who will stay until late in the evening, the hotel lights attract plantation and Manta Rays appear to feed. It is best to be on the beach no later than 9:00 am because the hotel provides parking for about 25 cars only.
