Kailua Kona is located in the North Kona District, Hawaii. It is a lively seaside town with sunny tropical weather all year long and lies at the bottom of the Hualalai Volcano.
The town hosts many interesting historical sites and is famous for the Kona Coffee cultivation and the crystal clear sea. Kona International Airport is located at fifteen minutes in the south of the main town. Along the sea side there are shops and schools to buy or rent diving gear, as well as take diving lessons if you are a beginner.
South Golden Arches Beach is a wonderful spot for scuba diving with an average depth of 49.2 ft/15 m and maximum depth of 65.6 ft/20 m. The sea is reef coral with low current and excellent visibility. It is perfect for beginners and children because there are no dangers such as boat traffic or extreme depths.
The bio-diversity of the bottom is amazing. You will come across colored tropical fish, eels, sea turtles and a large rock arch with nice sandy areas.
