Lagos, Faro

This beautiful place is located in Portugal, at the mouth of Bensafrim River and along the Atlantic ocean. It’s a municipality, in the Barlavento region of the Algarve. There are lots of things to do and see in Lagos. The status of prince Henry in the Praça Infante Dom Henrique really worth to admire. Walk along the cobbled street and you’ll find the famous Lagos ‘golden church’ of St. Anthony. On the opposite side of this treasure, there is the ‘Slave Market’, where the slaves used to be sold, once they were brought back from the discovery voyages. The old part of the city is circled by the walls, that were constructed during the 16th century.

The St. Sebastian church stands up on a hill, with amazing views over Lagos. Meia praia beach offers the right conditions for kite-surf. It’s a beach-break with sloppy waves, with right and left directions. The swell size starts working at 1-1.5 m / 3-5 ft and holds up to 2 m+ / 6 ft+. The north, northwest and northeast direction is the best for the wind. For the swell the south and southeast direction is the best.

In spring, the waves swell size is from 0.5-2 m (1.5-6.5 ft) and the wind blows onshore at 7%. In summer, the wind blows onshore at 2% and the wave swell size is >1.5 ft (>0.5 m) but in good days, the swell size is from 0.5 to 1.3 m (1.5-4 ft). In autumn, we have the same waves swell size and the wind blows onshore at 4%. In winter, the wind blows onshore at 6% and the waves swell size is 2-3 m (6.5-10 ft).

There are kite-surf schools in the area, with experts at your disposal, in case you need. In Lagos, there are other activities to do on your spare time and a variety of accommodations, when you need to relax.
