• ABOUT THE SPOT

Kiteboarding / Kitesurfing in Hardings beach, Catham County, Massachusetts USA

Best Wind direction:
Southwest
Hardings Beach is the largest all-around family beach on the Lower Cape, just barely edging out Ridgevale Beach. It gives in south on Nantucket Island and it is characterized by its calm, warm waters.

Hardings beach is a sandy beach and a popular destination for kite-surfers. The spot is located at the end of Hardings Beach Road (off of Barn Hill Road). The spot provides with two parking lots, lifeguards and bathroom.

There are plenty of accommodation and dinning places not far from the beach. The water is adequately warm with consistent winds coming from the South West, which is the best wind direction, prevailing most of the times during the whole day, so one can have a good ride.

Best months to visit are May, June, July, August and September. Here nothing lies between you and the open water, so you have all the space you need to show off your skills. Because of people sunbathing and swimming, one needs to be very careful and use the beach only for launching. The spot is not recommended for begginer kite-surfers.

It is recommended to continue riding at Monomoy Island where better conditions are present, however, in order to do so, you need to be more experienced due to currents. One should watch out for on-shore winds and shorebreak that may have an impact during kitesurfing. Given that the beach is also narrow, be careful of fishing weirs at 50 yd/45.7 m off shore.
