Take your flippers and your bodyboard but leave your mind in a safe place. Crazy Left beach will make you lose it! The spot is located in Ericeira, a small fishing village in the municipality of Mafra, in Portugal. Ericeira is well known for its warm climate and the hospitality of the villagers.
The sun give its best lights to this place. The narrow cobbled streets lead you to the treasures of the village. The public and religious buildings of great architecture take you back to the 12th century. The municipal library (Biblioteca Municipal da Ericeira) and the cultural center (Casa de Cultura Jaime Lobo E Silva) are waiting for you. There is also the Sta. Casa da Misericórdia da Ericeira, the museum of Ericeira, where the veil of the ancient art will come up with your artistic expectations. You can taste the fresh fish in the nice restaurants, unless fishes are running scared away from you, once you body-board.
Crazy Left beach, is one of the few beaches in Ericeira, with waves with left direction. They are hollow and fast, with world class quality. It’s a reef-rocky. In summer, the wind blows offshore 0.6% and we have only 4% of the time waves with swell size 1.3-2 m (4-6.5 ft). In autumn, the waves swell size is 7% of the time 2-3 m (6.5-10 ft) and the wind blows offshore 7%. In winter, the wind blows offshore 12% and the waves swell size is 2-3 m (6.5-10 ft) 13% of the time and 7% of the time the swell size is >3 m (10 ft). In spring, the waves swell size is 1.3-2 m (4-6.5 ft) 11% of the time and the wind blows offshore 6%.
The beach is appropriate for professionals or kamikaze body-boarders, but there are body-board schools in the area, whose their experts remain at your disposal in case of need. In Ericeira, there are other leisure activities and accommodation options.
