Maximum Depth:
19m/62.3ft
Coogee is a beach-side suburb of Sydney, at about 8 km/4 mi in the south-east of Sydney's CBD (Central Business District).

Coogee beach nestles among sandstone headlands and it is protected from the heavy waves coming from Wedding Cake Island. At the north side of the beach lie the rocks which attract snorkeling enthusiasts. The maximum depth is 19 m/62.3 ft.

Visibility rate is good enough, around 10 m/32 ft and it can be dived in calm weather and not after rain. Water temperature is up to 21°C/69.8°F in summer and early autumn months and between 14-18°C/57.2-64.4°F in winter.

Expect to see giant cuttlefish, blue groper and plenty of schooling fish. The Weedy Sea Dragon is a sea horse which can only be found in NSW waters. There are plenty of accommodation options to suit every taste and for every budget.

Finally, visitors can enjoy coastal walks and the magnificent view of the Pacific Ocean and the Wedding Cake Island in one of the many cafes and restaurants on the streets around the beach. Note: it is crowded during weekends, so be patient.
