The Bazaruto Archipelago is a group of six dune islands in Mozambique, namely Bazaruto, Benguera, Magaruque, Banque, Santa Carolina and Shell. The island complex is situated at 750 km/466 mi from Maputo. Known as the "Pearl of the Indian Ocean", the Archipelago is an island resort that hosts a protected and abundant marine life. The climate here is characterized by wet and dry seasons.
Baluba Reef is a large, flat topped reef with magnificent caves and gullies. Situated past the line of surf between Margaraque Island and San Sebastian Point, it is an ideal spot for open water divers and underwater photography. The winding paths through coral gardens with caves demanding to be explored, makes diving just irresistible!!
The dive depths here range between 10-14 m/33-46 ft. Some of the marine life expected here include numerous brightly colored reef fish, octopus, shoals of red-fang trigger fish just to mention a few.
