Ponta Do Ouro is the southernmost village in Mozambique and is a popular holiday destination. It lies on the Mozambique Channel, southern of Maputo and just northern of the borders with South Africa. Ponta Do Ouro boasts pristine beaches and is well known for its long stretches of white beaches. There are no tarred roads, therefore it is only accessible by 4x4 vehicles.
Ponta Do Ouro offers amazing kitesurfing conditions making it a hot spot for this adrenalin packed adventure. Kitesurfing here accommodates both the novice and expert surfer. The best kitesurfing months here are from the month of August through to March with winds blowing between 15-20 knots.
Consistent winds here are the north easterly, however the north westerly is also kiteable. The waves range between 1-3 m/3.2-9.8 ft in height and the wave lengths stand at 150-500 m/492-1640 ft. The waves are great on south easterly winds however it can get gusty since it comes over the forested tree line.
