Hot air ballooning in Hoedspruit is performed near the foot of the Drakensberg Escarpment. The mountains from the west and south shelter the spot from prevailing winds, hence hot air ballooning is conducted throughout the year. The hour long scenic flight is over the Lowveld section of the amazing Blyde River. The terrain consists of nature reserves, wild estates and farmland offering a breathtaking aerial view.
This magical flight starts at sunrise and offers breathtaking landscape views, vegetation and on a lucky day some plain game like the giraffe and the wildebeest. Safety is at its top with the pilots informing you of the highlights. The height above the ground is at 2000 ft/609 m but the pilot changes altitude in favor of wind directions and speed.
To attempt this adventure, you need to be of considerable physical fitness. Children are allowed but should be at least 1.2 m/4 ft tall.
