Berthoud Pass, Idaho Springs
Berthoud Pass is located between Idaho Springs and Winter Park and is one of the closest areas in Denver for skiing. It belongs to Boulder County and is just an hour away.
Since 2005, Serfaus along with the two neighboring villages, Fiss and Ladis, have created a joined network of ski areas with modern facilities, resulting in a fantastic playground for ski fans. The resort location above the Tyrolean Inn Valley, framed by Samnaun Mountains provides with good quality powder snow and many days of sunshine.
This expanded ski resort has a top elevation of 9251 ft/2819 m and a vertical drop of 5314 ft/1619 m. There are more than 212 km/131.7 mi of perfect slopes for freestyle skiing, cross country trails, 70 ski lifts and seven terrain parks, providing the visitor with non stop fun.
There are also many events and competitions that take place in the ski resort. One of the most exciting is the Nine Queens competition, where international and local female free ride skiers compete each other on the Austrian hills in skills and style. For this event, a huge castle is being built out of snow by the widely known Schneestern crew. This unique set up is the heart of the competition.
The resort and Serfaus town offer various accommodation options, restaurants and bars, ski schools and shops and everything else a skier might need. A a tiny subway system to move around without the need of a car is also available to the visitors of the spot.
