Munich is surrounded by the wonderful Bavarian Alps. A very nice way to explore the area is with a motorcycle. Motorcycling is a very popular sport in Munich and in Germany in general. There are many routes where you can admire the magnificent vistas. One of them is Munich – Bolzano Bozen – Munich roundtrip.
It is a round trip of 475 km / 295.2 mi long that lasts about 8 hours if you don’t make any stops. If you take your time to marvel the wonderful views, you might need more time to ride this route. This ride route is a long one. It is focused mainly on mountain passes.
It is recommended that you will take the loop clockwise as roads get more and more impressive. Culminate is the pass over Timmelsjoch which is an awesome experience. It is not recommended to use the highways in-between the passes.
It is preferable to stay on the side roads as they are often equally rewarding as they snake through the Alpen foothills. If you take the ride through Innsbruck in Austria and many small Italian villages, there are ample opportunities for sightseeing. For a more leisurely pace, it is highly recommended that you will make this trip an overnight weekend trip!
