Tasmania is Australian island state, located at 240 km/150 mi in southeast of Australia's mainland. The island of Tasmania is an ideal destination, as it offers a diverse vegetation with many unique flora and fauna species, dense forests, pristine beaches and ideal weather conditions to perform your favorite extreme activity.
There is a vast number of surf breaks on the East Coast that offer great waves. Roaring beach is a popular beach break that is suitable for novice and advanced surfers alike. Offshore winds blow from the north, northeast and the ideal swell direction is from the south, southwest. The best tide movement is falling tide and the ideal tide position is all tides. In summer, the wind blows offshore at 39%, in autumn the wind blows at 45%, in winter at 47% and in spring at 47%.
The optimum period for waves is in winter when the average maximum sea temperature is 12°C /53.6°F. Here you can explore the waves with swell sizes from less than 1 m/3 ft and holds up to 2 m/6 ft. Surfers will not have much competition for waves here, as it is usually uncrowded. Finally, apart from surfing you can visit Port Arthur that is at about 60 km/37 mi in the southeast of Hobart, the capital state and it is the most significant heritage location in Tasmania. Note: watch out for rocks and rips.
