Pasir Ris in Malay means "beach bolt-rope", simply implying a narrow beach. It is geographically divided into three regions, namely Loyang (East) Central and Elias (West). Due to its proximity to the sea, it has several recreation facilities and has a keenly preserved mangrove forest with boardwalks to allow visitors get closer to the inhabitants. The full length of the park is around 6.6 km/4.1 mi long.
Famous for its biking trail, the Tampines Bike Trail was used as a cycling venue during the 2010 summer Youth Olympics. The spot has also hosted a number of mountain biking marathon events, attracting hundreds of participants from the region. The bike park is made up of 2 cycling tracks, the mountain bike trail and the BMX track. It is situated on a 60 ha/0.60 km² site space, the current mountain biking trail is 10 km/6.2 mi long.
The trail offers a number of climbs and challenging contour rides and accommodates the intermediate rider. Tampines Bike Trail is sure to test your skills through your bike handling techniques and endurance. Sixty percent of the track is comprised of single tracks, providing a challenging overtaking technique.
