Santa Pod Raceway that is situated in Podington, was formely an American airbase during the World War II. In 1966, it opened as the first permanent drag racing venue in Europe. Nowadays, Santa Pod Raceway is with no doubt, the fastest motorsport on earth, with impressive race action from dragsters and door slammers to beetles and bikes. Santa Pod hosts both the first and last round of the FIA and FIM/UEM European Drag Racing Championship. But that is not all, it also hosts a vast number of motorsport events during the race season, that lasts from January to November.
There is something to cover all interests! Fast Show and USC, the Jap Shows and Run What You Brung, are some of the events that take place here. Furthermore, the site provides with a number of facilities and services, including free parking, showers, camping and an area for kids. It should be mentioned that pets are not allowed on the spot, due to the loud noise of the racing. Last but not least, it is advisable to wear ear protection when you are close to the track, especially children.
