Cruz Del Sur Wreck or else called the Southern Cross, is a 287 ft/87.4 m long freighter and was built in 1956. Donated to the Miami-Dade County Artificial Reef program, the ship now lies on the bottom of the sea and is considered to be one of the top technical dive sites in the area.
Situated at a maximum depth of 240.2 ft/73.2 m, with low sea current and good visibility, this is a very interesting dive suitable for advanced and professorial divers only. The biodiversity of this artificial reef is very interesting and you will certainly come across some really big fish.
Cruz Del Sur Wreck can be dived by using a mixture of nitrogen and oxygen because of the depth of the spot. This nice and deep wreck dive is a dark site so be very well prepared in regards of gear and flashlights. As it is difficult to find the exact location of the ship approached only by boat, it is best to book an organized dive trip with a local school or guide.
