New Smyrna Beach is a beautiful wide sandy beach where kite boarding is a very popular activity. As it is an exposed beach break, it offers consistent waves that work all year round. The size of the swell, starts working from 5 ft/1.5 m and holds up to 6 ft/2 m and more, while the best swell direction is when coming from Southwest.
New Smyrna Inlet is suitable for indeterminate and advanced kite boarders. The best season to kite is from November to April when the frontal winds range between 10 knots/18.5 kph and 25 knots/46.3 kph. Note that during weekends the beach is ultra crowded. Kite Boarders should be careful of sharks, rip currents and jellyfish.
