Limassol is located on the South coast of the island, at Akrotiri Bay and it is the second largest city in Cyprus. As it has one of the biggest ports in the Mediterranean Sea, the city is rapidly evolving into one of the most important maritime, commerce and tourism destination worldwide.
Limassol offers a typical Mediterranean climate with hot and dry summers and mild rainy winters. The hot summer season starts from mid May until mid October with average high temperatures at 33 °C /91 °F and sometimes more during heatwaves, while during winter the average temperature range from 19 °C/66 °F to 30 °C /86 °F.
Lady’s Mile Beach is a 4 mi/6.4 km long sandy beach that is almost deserted, with no permanent development due to its status as property of the British Ministry of Defense. With crystal clear waters and frequent strong Venturi winds, the beach has became a hot spot for windsurfers of all skill levels.
It is perfect for flat speed windsurfing, especially during the afternoon hours when the main direction of the wind is coming from the west, reaching up to 25 knots/46.3 kph of speed. For beginners, the best season to take lessons is from May to October.
The most advanced windsurfers can sail this spot all year round and especially during winter when the winds build up and offer more extreme sailing conditions. The beach is crowded by bathers and kite surfers as well as water crafts during summer, so keep an eye not to bump into them while windsurfing.
