
Paiva River, Castelo de Paiva
Paiva River is a well-known Portuguese river located in Serra Leomil and more particularly in the perish of Old Pear. The river flows into the Douro in the Castelo de Paiva.
The beach is at the foot of Tamarack Avenue. It is a beautiful, 4 mi/6.5 km beach with coastal bluffs and is popular for day use and BBQ. The state park was established in 1933. It is offered for camping on top of the cliffs and if visitors want to access the beach, they must go through multiple staircases and one ramp.On warm days the beach is ideal for body-boarding.
There are zones set aside to separate swimmers from body-boarders. The offshore winds come from the northeast. It receives long groundswells and the optimum angle wave comes from the west. High tide is best around. The beach break also offers right and left hand waves.
The facility owns showers, electricity, WiFi, bathrooms and camp store. If visitors would like to spend the night, there are lovely hotels nearby in Carlsbad City. Visitors can have fun in some popular fun spots, like cafes, restaurants, bars & grill and generally great nightlife with clubs, pubs etc.
