Vall de Nuria (The Valley of Núria) is a south opening valley, coming down from the crest of the Pyrenees within the municipality of Queralbs, province of Girona, Spain.
According to legends, Saint Giles hid in a nearby cave a holy image of the Virgin. Vall de Nuria ski resort is accessible by the rack railway, or by foot. Temperatures vary from 8°C/46.40°F to 24°C/75.20°F with January being the coldest month. Lowest altitude is at 1964 m/6443 ft and highest is at 2252 m/7388 ft. At Nuria, there are 7.6 km/4 mi of skiing area, with 6.6 km/3.5 mi of guaranteed snow coverage, due to its 88 cannons.
There are no pistes just for cross country skiing inside the park, but if you feel adventurous, you can try the surrounding area. There are numerous of trails to follow, one difficult known is from the resort to Pocatraca, about 20 km/12 mi of alpine trail following the 2nd Catalan mountain ski Cup path. It’s a 5 hour trip around the area and into France, passing by Coma de Vaca , Fossa Del Gegant, and Coll de Noucreus.
You can move inside the resort on two button lifts, one chairlift, one cable car and one magic carpet. You can find a variety of services like picnic zones, children play park area, exhibitions, a sanctuary, auditorium, restaurants and cafes. Visit the local club, meet cross country enthusiasts and qualified instructors. Plan your trips or join organized excursions. You can hire your skis and buy your equipment from nearby stores.
