El Cuyo is a charming fishermen village, situated on the northeast coast of the Yucatan Peninsula. On this hidden paradise, the turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea mingles with the shallow waters of the Gulf of Mexico. El Cuyo is only 2 hours driving from Cancun and two and a half hours from Merida, the capital of the state.

This small village has something special to offer both to locals and foreign visitors. The spot lies next to Rio Lagartos National Reserve, which is internationally famous for the pink flamingos, that come to the area for reproduction. In addition, you can find sea turtles, about 250 different bird species, an amazing wildlife full of coconut trees and lot of peace! Other than that, El Cuyo is also a great kitesurfing and kiteboarding spot, especially for beginners, as it offers shallow waters, side shore wind and wide beaches.
