Without doubt, Cape Town is one of the most beautiful cities in the world boasting striking mountains, a long stretch of the Atlantic Ocean coastline and an intriguing working harbour. Located at the shores of Table Bay in the Western Cape province of South Africa, it enjoys an ocean Mediterranean climate, with mild moderately wet winters and dry warm summers.
30 minutes away from Cape Town’s city centre, there is the magnificent Atlantis Dunes field, which is a perfect spot for sandboarding. Characterized by white sand dunes of various sizes and amazing scenic views, sandboarding is a must do and you need to check that in your list!! The dunes range in size up to 35 m/114 ft.
The adventure lasts 3 hours approximately and is weather dependent. During wet seasons, there is no sandboarding. To embark on this adventure, you need to be physically fit and have some stamina, although you are constantly under the watchful eye of a qualified instructor. Normally, before the adventure, there is an introduction session to prepare you for the adventure of a life time. Necessary attire would include thick socks, cap/hat, sunglasses and a jacket in case it is windy.
