Graz is the capital of the federal state of Styria (Steiermark) and the second largest city after Vienna. The old town, declared as UNESCO World Heritage since 1999, is one of the best preserved town in Central Europe. Graz is situated in the southeast of Austria on the Mur River, at about 200 km / 120 mi in the southwest of Vienna. However, Graz has a big sporting activity.
In Graz, a very popular sport especially among young ages is skate boarding. Skateboarders are literally everywhere in the city, riding with their wheels anything that can be rolled. Roads, stairs, parks, skate-parks, anywhere! Skate-park Grünanger is one very popular and brand new skate-park, which opened its gates only in 2011.
It is a concrete park for everyone, experienced or not. This was a 5 year project of an architecture firm and it looks really cool! In the park, you will find a lot of different banks, a Half Bowl, half-pipe, landings and quarters. Particularly the middle part has many ways with hips, ledges, rails and London Gap. The walls are laid out like in a stadium. All the parks features are handmade. It is a skate-park that you should definitely visit!
