El Formigal is located in the Aragon's Pyrenees mountains, near the borders of northern Spain with France in the province of Huesca. There are four different high valleys that can be reached by car or bus.

The spot constitutes an ideal location for skiing, offering 90 pistes of a total of 137 km (85 mi), with a 750 m (2460 ft) vertical drop. It has 11 chair lifts, 7 ski tows and 4 carpet lifts with the first chair lift being situated at 1500 m (4921 ft).
The peak of the resort is Tres Hombres at 2250 m (7381 ft) and among the 90 available pistes, 7 are for beginners (green), 18 are easy (blue), 33 are intermediate (red) and 39 are for expert (black) skiers. There are a few shops, training schools and clubs in the area where you can buy, repair or even rent your equipment.
