Sochi is a city situated in the federal subject of Krasnodar Kray, Russia. Its exact location is near the border between Russia and Georgia, on the Black Sea coast. Sochi is known to the entire world, as the 2014 Winter Olympics and Paralympics are about to take place here.
One very fun thing to do in Sochi is snowboarding. It is a very popular snow sport and Alpika Service Mountain Ski Resort attracts all kind of snowboarders from around Russia and the world.
The resort was opened in 1993 and offers about 25 km/16 mi of public slopes, with 7 km/4.6 mi of the tracks being equipped. There are 5 cableway stages of different altitudes, offering a maximum vertical drop of 5570 ft/1698 m.
The forest zone covers the route along the first, second and third stage of ropeway with a varying width of 50 to 150 m/164 to 492 ft and a standard length of not less than 7 km/4.6 mi.
The fourth stage passes along the ridge and allows a ride in the alpine zone, on an unbounded space. For the off piste lovers, the length of the descent is 2 – 6 km/1.5 – 3.1 mi with a vertical drop of 728 m/2388 ft of virgin slopes.
The tracks are 10 and vary in level of difficulty, offering novices, intermediate and advanced snowboarders 6 tracks, 2 tracks for each level and 4 tracks for experts. Qualified instructors are here to help you no matter the level of experience.
The facility includes amenities such as restaurants, cafes, rental and repair shop, supermarket, equipment store and nightlife, so a weekend or more full of snowboarding fun and leisure is guaranteed.
