Wenatchee is the largest city of Chelan County, located in North Central Washington and lies on the west side of the Columbia River. The city is also known as the Apple Capital of the world, due to the valley's apple cultivations.
Skyline Ridge is located in the north of Stevens Pass, at about one hour away from Wenatchee. The top elevation of the ridge is 5468 ft/1667 m high and it offers an average annual snowfall of 40 ft/12 m, perfect for snowboarding.
In order to reach Skyline Ridge, you hike the climbers trail, which can be difficult and steep, but meets with a jeep trail, leading you directly to Skyline Lake and Skyline Ridge. The mountain offers a variety of terrain, suitable for all skill levels and fantastic, unspoiled powder snow. You can either tour the ridge or drop off the South side.
However, the southern slopes can demonstrate high avalanche danger and are not suitable for beginners. Skyline ridge is a perfect destination for snowboarders, eager to explore a natural ski area in the wild nature of the Cascades. Always check the weather and avalanche forecast before choosing this route.
