Whiteface Mountain is the fifth highest mountain in New York and one of the High Peaks of the Adirondack Mountains. The resort offers a vertical drop of 3430 ft (1045 m), a top elevation of 4650 ft (1417 m) and a base elevation of 1220 ft (372 m). It has a total of 22 mi (35 km) of ski terrain. There are 86 trails, tailored to cover all levels of ability. Beginners can exercise their activity in 20% of trails, advanced snowboarders in 20% and experts can enjoy 43% of trails. The longest run is 2.1 mi/1.93 km and the annual snowfall reaches at 200 in/508 cm. All trails are formed by 98% of snowmaking.
The mountain’s east slope is home to the most well-known ski area, which hosted the alpine skiing competition of the 1980 Winter Olympics. Thanks to its excellent conditions, Whiteface is consistently ranked as one of the top ski resorts in the Northeast. The resort hosts many vital alpine skiing events, such as the U.S. Alpine Championships.
