Puerto Rico is situated in the northeastern Caribbean and consists of an archipelago that includes the main island of Puerto Rico and a number of smaller islands. The climate here is classified as tropical marine climate, with an average temperature of 82.4°F/ 28°C, throughout the year. Although it is a small island, the smallest island of the Greater Antilles, Puerto Rico provides superb natural surroundings, countless adventure experiences and many places of historical interest.

Isla Verde is a beautiful tourist resort with many accommodation options along the coastline and a variety of restaurants, bars and shops in a short walk from the beach. Chatarras is located close to Isla Verde and is a reef break that offers world class wave quality when it breaks.

The surf spot is suitable for experienced surfers only, due to its fast and large waves. The swell sizes usually start from 1.5-2 m/5-6 ft and can hold up to 3 m/10 ft. The ideal tide position is low and mid tide and the best tide movement is rising and falling tides. In addition, the optimum wind direction is from the south, southeast and the ideal swell direction is from the north and northwest.

If you hate beach crowds, then you should avoid visiting this place at weekends. Keep in mind that Chatarras offers both left and right hand waves. Finally, Puerto Rico has a great number of surf schools, in case you want to brush up your skills or improve your technique. Note: be careful of urchins and localism.
