The town hosts many interesting historical sites and is famous for its Kona Coffee cultivation and the crystal clear sea. Kona International Airport is located at fifteen minutes in the south of the main town. Along the sea side, there are shops and schools to buy or rent surfing gear, as well as take lessons if you are a beginner.
However, Holns Beach is not recommended for beginners. It offers an epic wave quality and good wind direction coming from the north. The size of the swell starts working at 1 m/3 ft and holds up to 2.5 m+/8 ft+.
The sea is reef coral with sharp rocks and the power of the wave is powerful and fun to ride. Holns beach is very popular to surfers so during weekends, the spot is crowded. Surfers should be careful of urchins and rocks.
