Isabela is a coastal city, located on the northwest coast of Puerto Rico. It is also known as the “Garden of the Northwest”, due to the unique combination of beautiful beaches, submarine rivers, caves, a rainforest and interesting archaeological sites. Isabela is also known for its amazing surfing spots. In fact, it was the host city for two World Cup Surfing Championships in the 20th century.
Jobos beach is one of the best spots for surfing competitions. It is an exposed beach break that offers reliable surf at any time of the year. The swell sizes usually start from 1 m/3 ft and hold up to 2.5 m/8 ft. Offshore winds blow from the north and the best swell direction is from the north and northwest. It should be noted that Jobos can get very crowded, especially during weekends.
In summer, the wind blows offshore at 9%, in autumn it blows at 21%, in winter at 12% and in spring at 23%. Last but not least, there are many surf schools and shops available in the area, where you can book lessons or rent gear. Note: be careful of rocks and localism.
