Along the sea side, there are schools and shops to buy or rent wind surfing gear as well as to take wind surfing lessons if you are a beginner. Paia Bay is great for wind surfers of all skill levels. It provides with a good wave quality taking both right and left directions and the power of the wave is fast and fun to ride.
The wind is coming compressed from Maui’s volcanic mountain. The sea is sandy with a few rocks and has a small protected lagoon, called baby beach. Outside of this, windsurfing can get pretty difficult. Paia Bay is a popular wind surfing destination, so during weekends is crowded. Windsurfers should be careful of rip currents, rocks and sharks.
