Nice is the administrative capital of the Alps – Maritime department, the second largest city on the Mediterranean coast after Marseille and the fifth most populous city in France, situated in the southeast coast of France by the Mediterranean Sea. The Nice urban area extends beyond the administrative city limits. The mild Mediterranean climate and the natural beauty of Nice along with the big sporting activity came to attention of various types of athletes.

Nice and the surrounding area is a beautiful site to observe and the best way to admire it is from above. Paragliding is the perfect option for you to make your dream of flying come true and feel the absolute freedom of the vacuum. The take off site is a 30 minutes’ walk from the village Greolieres.

If you decide to paraglide in winter, you can use the ski lifts. The Cheiron is the most obvious as it is the biggest ridge in the area with a high point of 1770 m/5807 ft. The area is very reliable for paragliding as the thermals are pulling the air up front, even when there are clouds scooting over the top from the north.

It is recommended that you will be prepared to encounter this wind if you decide to fly over the cliff height. The site offers both thermals and dynamic lift all year round. While it is not the easiest site to take off from, there is a straight forward 15 km /9.5 mi long out and return ridge run to Coursegoules, which is very achievable in a reasonable day, weather conditions wise.

Paragliding in this spot is a normal procedure, just put on the equipment walk and fly. Landing will take place in a big meadow to the east of the village. The winds in the valley are usually blowing from the east but in case it blows from the west, the site gets turbulent so it is not advisable to fly.

The often flyable site and the accessibility coupled with the ski slopes on the north side of the mountain, the amazing views of the Mediterranean and the snow capped Mercantour are enough reasons to take off from there.
