Summerville belongs in Chattooga County, of which it is the county seat, in Georgia, USA. The County is situated northwest of the country with the city of Summerville being located almost in the middle. It is a small city, but with huge off road activity.
In Dalton, near Summerville you will come across one of the most awesome, off road parks in Georgia. Houston Valley ORV Area is the perfect place to practice your favorite sport, which is no other than motocross. The area is extremely popular offering a two way trail system of approximately 22 mi/35.4 km of OHV trails.
Levels of difficulty range from easy to most difficult. Amateurs, novices and experts will have a blast each one at their own level. The terrain is incredible with a mixture of water crossings, challenging rocky sections and deep mud puddles. The entire huge area of 4 mi²/10.3 km² lies in the forest at an elevation of 900 to 1300 ft/274 to 396 m.
All the trails are marked, rated and heavily maintained. Features are everything an off road park that respects itself should have. Loose dirt, mostly hard pack, mud, dust, rocks, steep hills and many opportunities to show off on berms and small jumps. Trees are everywhere, so the shade is plenty.
There are a few hazards that are supposed to be marked, but still ride with caution. Bear in mind that in order to ride in the specific park, you need an OHV Trail permit and that there is a noise limit. The area is opened from April to late December.
While there is no entrance, parking or camping fee, there is a small fee per rider. It is recommended to visit this spot with a friend or even alone and spend the entire day having fun on your motocross bike.
